Huge Coronary artery aneurysm Demonstrated by 64-slice MDCT Coronary angiography: a case report

چکیده
Coronary artery aneurysm is an uncommon disease. We present a case of an unusual huge saccular coronary aneurysm of the left anterior descending coronary artery detected by 64-slice multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) coronary angiography, which initially presented as a mediastinal mass on chest X-ray. The true size of the aneurysm would have been underestimated by coronary angiography because it contains substantial thrombus. In our case, the clinical role of MDCT coronary angiography is more superior than the traditional coronary angiography. Coronary ar tery aneurysm is def ined as an abnormally dilated segment with a diameter 1.5 times greater than the normal adjacent artery segment; and it can be classified as fusiform or saccular [1]. Coronary artery aneurysms are typically diagnosed on coronary angiography. MDCT technology provides a noninvasive alternative to evaluate the abnormality of coronary artery. We present a case of an unusually huge saccular coronary aneurysm of the left anterior descending coronary artery which would have been underestimated by coronary angiography because it contains substantial thrombus.

A coronary artery aneurysm is an uncommon disorder and is seen as a characteristic dilatation of a localized portion of the coronary artery. Clinical manifestation of a coronary artery aneurysm varies from an asymptomatic presentation to sudden death of a patient. Although coronary aneurysms are typically diagnosed by the use of coronary angiography, a new generation of coronary 64-slice multid...

BACKGROUND A 64-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) is well known to be a useful noninvasive form of angiography for the general population, but not for certain patients with diabetes. The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy and usefulness of 64-slice MDCT coronary angiography for detecting coronary artery disease in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes melli...

Noninvasive CT coronary angiography is a promising coronary imaging technique. In spite of the unprecedented temporal and spatial resolution and the inability to perform therapeutic interventions in the same session multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) has been considering a promising alternative, non invasive tool for coronary artery imaging due to its high sensitivity and specificity for...

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to assess, in a general cardiology cohort screened for obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD), the effectiveness and frequency with which multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography unexpectedly imaged and identified other nonatherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. BACKGROUND MDCT angiography is a novel imaging strategy employed primarily to d...
